Katharine Nephew, LCSW
Katharine is a graduate of the Silver School of Social Workers and has been practicing in NYC for the past twenty-three years. She is adept at crisis intervention but feels that goal-oriented talk therapy is a useful modality to address the things we know, but may be avoiding. Katharine’s clients know they will be met where they are at, without judgment, and will be encouraged to go on to live happy and productive lives. Katharine’s expertise includes exploring family history to see how it might be affecting one’s progress and life today. She is a mitigation expert in the federal courts and has extensive child welfare knowledge. She sees patients virtually and at the Brooklyn office.

I graduated with my BA from Marist College in 2013 and obtained a Master’s Degree from Hofstra University in 2015. I also hold a Certificate of Advanced Studies. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, traveling, reading, and watching sports. My goal is to collaborate with you and provide a safe environment for you to share, create worthwhile and achievable goals, and ultimately become the best version of yourself. Whether you want to find ways to cope with daily life stressors, are seeking a way to process traumatic experiences, or are seeking ways to recover from addiction, I will work hard to help you on your journey. I have many years of experience working with people who struggled with substance use, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I practice from a psychodynamic perspective while integrating aspects of CBT and Motivational Interviewing methods. I look forward to working with you!
